Environmental Policy Statement

James Cropper plc is a manufacturer of speciality coloured paper and board products, non-woven fabrics and the design, manufacture and supply of coloured thermoformed pulp products, including the operation and maintenance of off-site water resources and landfill, situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park and on the River Kent, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
  • We recognise that our operations have the potential to impact the environment.  The Company will meet all legal and regulatory requirements and will refer to their guidance to implement environmental good practice.
  • We are committed to continuing to improve our environmental performance, prevent pollution, and to mitigate our impact on the local community.
  • We will continue to invest in environmental improvements on a progressive basis, setting objectives and targets in our Environmental Strategy.
  • We will continue to meet the requirements of ISO 14001, the environmental management standard, and maintain our certification to the standard.
  • We will continue to implement resource efficiency measures to effectively use resources, minimise waste and reuse and recycle where possible.
  • We will reduce the specific use of water and energy (under the paper Sector Climate Change Agreement).
  • We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that we purchase supplies from environmentally responsible sources, including wood fibre procured from sustainable forests, thereby promoting reliable forestry certification schemes such as FSC® and PEFC.
  • EU Ecolabel - We will commit to the maintenance of adherence to the criteria for teh products that are Ecolabelled.
  • We will make our policy publicly available and maintain environmental information on the Company Website (www.cropper.com).
